Some people may be shocked at what city it is, considering that it has been named one of the best places to live in the state by numerous publications. In this article, we will take a look at which cities were named the best places to live in the state as well as the city that was named the most overrated place to live!

Ramseysolutions.com just recently released a list of the “Best Places to Live in South Carolina”. However, in addition to naming the best places to live in the state of South Carolina – they also named the “Most Overrated Place to Live” in the state as well. The selection may come as a surprise, as many publications have actually dubbed it one of the best places to live in the state. A few cities that made the list include Charleston at #9, Columbia at #5, Clemson at #2, and Fort Mill coming in at #1. However, all of the attention goes to who the publication named as the most overrated place to live in the state – Myrtle Beach.

Ramseysolutions.com did not hold any punches and completely unloaded on the popular beach town. The publication noted that although Myrtle Beach may be a hot vacation spot and a great town for tourists, residents struggle there. It also added that the “city’s housing prices are around the national median, but yearly incomes are more than $20,000 below the national median”! It also said that there are a lot of “property crimes” in the area as well.

However, they also had some nice things to say about Myrtle Beach as well. Some of the pros of living in the town are obviously living near the ocean, as well as having a few great attractions in town to visit such as Ripley’s Aquarium, The Carolina Opry, Tanger Outlets, and Wheels of Yesteryear Vintage Auto Museum.
